Zeitlife is my signature column, where I write about my recent experiences.
A Chance Encounter
It’s official: after 16 hours of flying in four days, I despise airplane seats. I dread the adjustable chair with its foldaway dining table and video screen. I’ve begun to feel like someone who repeatedly traps himself in a dark closet: “Why do I keep doing this to myself? It’s cramped, dark and cluttered in here, and I’m missing The Apprentice.”

Copious amounts of useful advice and information were dished out during Columbia’s J-School Open Weekend. I’m by no means an authority on the topic, but I’ve presented what I felt were the most pertinent lessons in ten bite-size commandments below. The humour is …

In the second part of Kony 2012: Biased, Simplistic, But Effective, I question the relevance of Kony today, the likely consequences for Ugandans of Innocent Children’s campaign, and whether a call to arms is the best solution to the problem. I argue that Kony 2012 could spur world powers into action, and hasten the guerrilla general’s capture. Finally, I caution against an impetuous charge into Uganda, and warn that a simple resolution may be impossible.

Look Forward, Not Back
Mr Izama argues that Kony 2012 focuses on crimes that …
